It's hard to believe that it's Beltane already! Easing up on Beltane is such a special, encouraging time. Here in New England, we've still got cold days, and there's still a chance there may be snow, but we're finally really starting to believe it's Spring. How amazing is it that Beltane means we're actually halfway to Summer! What a great time of the year--some years, especially this one, this holiday seems like a super-spring-bonus.
Our May altar will reflect some of the warmth and color of the current time of year, along with an embracing of the new greens that are suddenly popping out all over. This is a fun month to play with, because we're SO DONE with Winter, and like everything outside, we're ready for warmth and fire and maybe even a beach day.
This month, we'll keep the pink candle from April (maybe) and add a red one. We will also add some carnelian to the altar. The red of life! A big, honking carnelian flame will do the trick. Some leafy things would be nice so we will keep the small wreath from april. Some sage is always nice, so that will be there too. We like to find some new kind of altar cloth, or plate; for this month, maybe we'll dig out the Green Man cloth that's around here somewhere.
Hopefully this altar will serve as a nice reminder to us of the energies and wonders of this time of year. We'd love to see what you do with your altar, and how you welcome in the Summer!
